Meet my running mate: Owen Silverman Andrews

A partner I trust, a proven organizer—and the right fit to help Maryland break the two-party trap.

I’m excited to share big news: Owen Silverman Andrews is joining me as my running mate for Lieutenant Governor. I’ve known Owen as a friend, colleague, and visionary leader for a decade. He’s steady, principled, and relentless in his work for peace, justice, and democracy—someone who pushes us to imagine a better world and then organizes to build it. He’s a partner I trust and love working with, and I’m thrilled to run this campaign with him.

Why Owen

  • Proven organizer. Helped lead unionization at Maryland community college where he works and played a key role in passing the CALL Act (2024) to reduce barriers for immigrant students.

  • Community roots. Educator and immigrant-rights advocate with strong ties across immigrant, labor, campus, and progressive communities statewide.

  • Justice leader. From removing Confederate statues in Baltimore to long-standing organizing for a free Palestine and against U.S. imperialism. Owen shows up where it counts.

  • Campaign Skills: Owen is a highly skilled fundraiser and organizer, and is exceptional at securing press and media attention for Green Party campaigns.

What’s Next

  • Tonight (Friday, Sept 19): We’ll celebrate with Owen’s friends and family.

  • Saturday (Sept 20, Greenbelt): Join us for a community meeting—let’s talk plans and how to get involved. RSVP for Greenbelt →

  • Sunday (Sept 21): I’ll celebrate with the Montgomery County Green Party at their annual picnic.

  • Next week: We’ll make it official and file for office, with press availability afterward.

This campaign is about expanding what’s possible in Maryland—opening up our democracy, investing in people and communities, and building a government that works for all of us, not billionaires and insiders. With Owen on the ticket, we’re even better positioned to do exactly that.

See you this weekend—and stay tuned for filing day.

In solidarity,
Andy Ellis
Green Party candidate for Governor of Maryland
