While working-class Marylanders worry about rising energy bills, immigrant neighbors facing ICE raids, and the looming threat of job loss in a rapidly shifting economy—Governor Wes Moore is spending his week at a private retreat with the billionaire class in Sun Valley, Idaho.
Moore, is one the favorite elected politicians of the billionaire class and is attending their summer camp for the third year in a row.
That’s not a metaphor. It’s real.
A literal summer camp for billionaires.
Hosted by Allen and Company, one of the most powerful investment firms in the world, Sun Valley is where the CEOs of Amazon, Palantir, Netflix, Meta, and Disney gather behind closed doors with politicians, strategists, and media moguls to plan the future—for all of us, without us.
And instead of being here in Maryland, fighting for us, our governor is off networking with the same tech barons who are laying off workers, building surveillance tools for ICE, and draining our power grid with giant data centers.
Why? Because that’s where the money is.
While Wes Moore rubs elbows with billionaires to fund another round of slick ads, I’m doing something different: building a grassroots campaign funded by small donors, not corporate interests. We believe public financing, not private fortunes, should power politics in this state.
We’re not trying to climb the political ladder or land a Netflix deal—we’re trying to build a Maryland that works for everyone. A government that answers to the people, not the donor class. A democracy that can’t be bought out by hedge funds or handshakes in the Idaho mountains. Our campaign won’t take a dime from corporations.
Because if our politicians keep serving billionaires, they will keep producing the same crises: housing we can’t afford, healthcare we can’t access, jobs that disappear overnight, and climate emergencies we’re left to face alone.
It’s time for something different. Something Green.
