Joining Israel’s War Against Iran Is Terrible for Maryland and The World

For immediate Release - June 22nd, 2025

Baltimore MD - As a Green Party candidate, I unequivocally condemn the United States for joining Israel’s war on Iran. Bombing Iran’s nuclear facilities is an act of war and a violation of international law. These actions escalate conflict, fuel global instability, and deepen a cycle of violence that devastates innocent lives across the region.

The Green Party stands for peace—and so do I. We reject endless war, reckless intervention, and the bipartisan consensus that props up militarism over diplomacy. Over and over again, we watch both parties cheer for war—while the people are left with the costs, the consequences, and the grief. True security comes from justice, cooperation, adherence to international law, and respect for human rights—not bombs, sanctions, or imperialist aggression.

Every dollar spent on war is a dollar stolen from our schools, our hospitals, and our communities. The trillions we pour into military contractors and global domination could instead be used to feed families, house the unhoused, guarantee healthcare, and fund a just transition to a sustainable future. Our government’s priorities must shift—from empire abroad to human dignity at home.

Here in Maryland, we see this contradiction up close. Our state is home to military bases, weapons manufacturers, and contractors that profit from endless war—while working-class families struggle to pay rent, our healthcare system becomes increasingly inaccessible, and entire communities fear the next storm may wash away their homes. The political establishment in Annapolis and Washington would rather fund weapons than fund people. We say: no more.

It’s time to divest from war and invest in peace. Vote Green.
